If you answer “yes” to these three questions, you should pass Screening:
Your submission contains only elements you created yourself or approved third party elements the challenge holder has given permission to use.
You have submitted the correct files and correctly declared ALL your fonts, mockups and approved stock artwork (photos, illustrations or icons). Your submission is not a placeholder for Round 2.
You are not cheating.
That’s it!
Using design elements or graphics you did not create yourself. If you have copied, traced or modified ANY design elements from another source, your submission will fail. You MUST follow the Topcoder Policies.
Not supplying the correct design source files. For example, if you have created several icons for your mobile application design, you must include the source files of those icons (Illustrator AI/EPS vector files for example) so the Screener can see that the designs were created by you and not copy-pasted from another source. Note: The Screener will catch you if you are “tracing” existing designs.
Copying Stock Icons and submitting them as “original icon designs”. You will fail if you copy or trace existing icons. You must create your own icon designs in challenges that require original icons.
Missing font information. You MUST document all fonts within your design.
Missing stock photo information or incorrect use of stock artwork. You MUST follow the specific rules regarding stock art that are posted on each challenge that allows it. For challenges that do not allow stock art, you must never use it.
Placeholder submission: If you only submit 1-2 screens with very few design elements or effort “to quality for the design checkpoint” you will fail Screening.
It is very important to read the challenge details carefully and format your submission correctly. If you ever have questions about what is acceptable in the challenge you are competing in, you should ask the Copilot in the challenge forum. It is your responsibility to submit correctly, but our staff and Copilots will do their best to help answer any questions you may have about the process.
NOTE: If you are submitting to a wireframe or Idea Generation challenge, the above information still applies, but there are additional policies found here.
